Fox Hunt darts rules explained
In Fox Hunt the fox runs once around the board while the hunters try to catch them. If the fox completes the lap first, the fox wins - if a hunter catches up, that hunter wins.
- From 2 players: fox and hunters
- Clockwise around the board
- Every hit moves you one field on
How to play
- Whoever starts the leg is the fox, everyone else is a hunter.
- Everyone runs clockwise over the fields of the board: 20, 1, 18, 4, 13 … 12, 5. The fox starts at 20 and has to go all the way round to 5; the hunters start 3 fields behind.
- Every hit on your own target moves you one field on - single, double or triple.
- If a hunter catches the fox, that hunter wins. If the fox completes the lap first, the fox wins.
Variants
- Over several legs the fox changes with the player who starts the leg. The app has no further options.
Fox Hunt example
The fox starts on 20, the hunters 3 fields behind on 9 (in the order 9, 12, 5, 20, 1 …). If the fox hits the 20, they move on to 1. If a hunter hits the 9, 12 and 5, they are on 20, hot on the fox’s heels.
Fox Hunt tips
- A single is enough: doubles and triples don’t give more, so aim for the large segments.
- As the fox every hit matters twice - every miss lets the hunters close in.
