Cricket darts rules explained
After X01, Cricket - also called darts cricket - is the most popular darts game. Only 15 to 20 and the bull are in play: whoever “closes” their numbers first while ahead on points wins. There is hardly any maths, but plenty of tactics.
- Numbers 15 to 20 and the bull
- 3 hits close a number
- Points only while an opponent has the number open
How to play
- Each number from 15 to 20 and the bull must be hit three times to close it: single = 1 mark, double = 2, triple = 3 (outer bull 1, bull 2). All other numbers don’t count.
- Once you have closed a number, further hits on it score points (number × multiplier) - but only as long as at least one opponent still has it open.
- Once everyone has closed a number it is “dead” and no longer counts for anyone.
- The winner is whoever has closed all numbers and has at least as many points as every opponent.
Variants
- The app plays Cricket with points as above, without further options. Instead of a points average it shows the MPR (marks per round).
Cricket example
Anna hits T20 - she has closed the 20 with one dart. Ben still has the 20 open, so Anna’s further hits on it score: a single 20 is 20 points, a T20 is 60. Once Ben closes the 20 as well, it is dead and scores for nobody.
Cricket tips
- Close the high numbers 20, 19 and 18 first - they score the most points.
- If your opponent is scoring on a number, close it yourself before they pull away.
- Scoring points alone is not enough: you only win once all numbers are closed and your points are level or ahead.
- The bull usually comes last - the outer bull only counts as 1 mark.
Cricket FAQ
Do you have to close the numbers in order?
No, the order is up to you. Many start with the 20 because it scores the most.
What does MPR mean?
Marks per round: how many marks a player hits per visit on average. 3 marks close a number, an MPR of around 2 is already decent.
What happens if the points are level?
Whoever closes all numbers first with at least as many points wins - level points are enough.
